media release: Calling all readers ages 8 to 12! Join local author Andrea Debbink at Garden Wall Bookshop as she discusses her newest book, I Witnessed: The Great Train Robbery of 1963, a graphic novel. The graphic novel is for ages 8 to 12.
Andrea is an editor and author who specializes in nonfiction storytelling for children and adults—from historical biographies to contemporary topics like the environment, natural history, and food science. Before launching her full-time writing career, she spent nearly a decade as an editor at American Girl where I created lifestyle features for American Girl magazine and developed nonfiction middle-grade books. These days, most of my work focuses on the topic I know and love best: nature. I’ve trained as a Master Naturalist in my state and enjoy writing about environmental stewardship, citizen science, and outdoor education. I’m happiest outdoors and love to spend my time hiking, camping, kayaking, and trying to catch a glimpse of my neighborhood owls and coyotes.
