Anger Dance
press release: Left of Left Center announces the upcoming premiere of Anger Dance, written and directed by Ned O'Reilly and choreographed by Lyn Pilch, Heidi Hakseth, Odari Kimani, Marina Mars, and Kerida O'Reilly. The production runs April 21-30, with opening weekend performances at Lakeview Moravian Church and closing weekend performances at Express Yourself Dance Studio, both in Madison.
Evan loves his wife MacKenzie. But he's a little too fixated on friend Lara. Lara's having trouble with live-in boyfriend Tommy, who's been spending late nights with Lara's best friend Coco. It's bad enough that Evan's made all of these things his problems, but now he has to deal with Pfegg. Pfegg is the walking, talking, chain-smoking manifestation of Evan's anger, and a snide jerk to boot. Anger Dance is a love story, but it's also about finding the right balance between keeping your cool and knowing when it's healthier to just let it all out. By bringing together choreographers from some of Madison's most successful musicals, including Bare, Alice, and The Rocky Horror Show, combined with bright lights from the burlesque scene, the characters in Anger Dance are able to express themselves in ways words just can't. Sometimes you talk things out with your spouse. Sometimes you make a mixtape. Sometimes you put your anger in its place with some serious thrashing. The cast features Jordan Humpal (Alice, The Tempest), Vanessa Vesperman (Ten Dollar House, Beta Blockers: Generations), Rachael Nachtwey (Oklahoma), Noah Koebe (Psycho Beach Party), Tia Tanzer (Richard the Second, Macbeth), and Jason Compton. Anger Dance performs April 21-23 at Lakeview Moravian Church, and April 28-30 at Express Yourself Dance Studio. Admission is a $15 suggested contribution at the door.
