Anna Akhmatova and the Engineers of the Human Soul

press release: Fermat’s Last Theater Company’s summer show, Anna Akhmatova and the Engineers of the Human Soul, will perform August 2 and 3 at 7:30 PM at the Arts + Literature Laboratory, 2021 Winnebago, on Madison’s east side. Admission is free, donations welcome.
The show will be a staged reading with the actors in costume, on a set with props, and live music. Brette Olpin will portray Anna Akhmatova, Mya Kahler will be narrator and Anna’s close friend Nadezhda Mandelstam, and Ari Pollack will voice many characters, from Stalin to Boris Pasternak. Music is adapted from the Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues and will be performed by Charlie John. All three actors have been in other Fermat productions. Professors from the UW Slavic Languages Department will lead after show talks.
