The New Set
Atlas Improv Company 609 East Washington Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: The New Set, Madison’s only improvised stand-up show returns with its newest monthly installation this Sunday, February 23rd at Atlas Improv Co., featuring many local comedians.
“This show is back and this month we have a fun group of comics who are ready to bring the heat and improvise off suggestions you provide,” says show producer, Steve Horton. As an avid performer of both improv and stand-up comedy, himself, Horton continues, “This show is great because there is an atmosphere of risk. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's... interesting. But it's always entertaining!” At the end of the show, one person will win a trophy for the best improvised set.
This month’s show features will open with prepared stand-up from Marcos Lara (from Rockford) and Cory Lara (from Chicago). The show will then feature improvised comedy sets from Steve Horton, Will Byrd, Erin Lok, KC Phillips, Rory Rusch, Jimmy Adamek, Dan Row, and Amanda Rogers. As with previous iterations of The New Set, audience members will have the opportunity to submit their name in a lottery and one lucky person will have the chance to try their hand at an improvised stand-up set of their own.
Topic submissions are now open, so anyone can suggest ideas for sets they would like to see. Additional opportunities to contribute suggestions will be available upon arrival at the venue leading up until showtime. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 26th, and the show starts at 7 p.m. Age restriction: this is an 18+ event. Tickets cost $2 and are available at the door.
