Brown Bag Seminar: Beekeeping Basics
Are you interested in the basics of beekeeping? Join our guest John Rogers as he explains basic bee biology and how to get started with your own hive. The presentation will cover essential beekeeping equipment as well as practical tips for beginners. John is a Baraboo native who started beekeeping six years ago. He started out small with seven hives, but now his "hobby" has turned into a business with over 500 hives this year, spanning four counties. John is president of the Sauk/Columbia County Honey Producers Club and is the Southern District Chair for the Wisconsin Honey Producers.
Our brown bag lecture series presents cutting-edge ecological research and new interpretations of Aldo Leopold’s writing and philosophy. Bring a bag lunch and join us for these free lunchtime talks at the Leopold Center (directions here), then plan to stay for the afternoon to tour the Shack, hike our trails, or explore our exhibits to learn more about Leopold’s legacy.
