Being a New Creation: Paul's Revelation and the Purpose of the Church
The 2015 Mutton Lecturer is the Rev. Dr. Deborah Krause, Academic Dean and Professor of New Testament, Eden Theological Seminary. Always an engaging and delightful speaker, Krause is no stranger to the Wisconsin Conference. She has taught in the Lay Academy, keynoted at Association Meetings, and conducted workshops at Lakeland College's Mission House Center and elsewhere.
Paul's revelation set off a program of building Jesus movement communities of predominantly Gentile people in different parts of the Mediterranean. Paul imagined his churches as communities in and through which people could participate in God's purpose of saving the whole world. Working with several texts and metaphors of Paul's letters, Deb will help us look for ways to mine the imagination and ministry of Paul for glimpses of how our practices of being Church might be challenged, informed, and made new in our places and time.
