Big Thief
media release: Big Thief’s “breathtaking” (Stereogum) and “spellbinding” (Rolling Stone) sixth studio album, Double Infinity, was released last year via 4AD. The follow-up to 2022’s Grammy-nominated album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, Double Infinity landed on several publications' “Best of 2025” lists, including Pitchfork, NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Consequence, and more. Recorded at the Power Station in New York City with a community of musicians (Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, Mikey Buishas), the trio would play for nine hours a day, tracking together—simultaneously—improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries. The Associated Press says the album “is as spirited and big-hearted as the band’s early days, but thrums with new voices, experimental flourishes and even a zither. Throughout, Lenker grounds floaty, rapturous verses with her signature, warm vocals and pithy aphorisms, like an oracle who transmutes pain into wisdom.” Paste declares: “Big Thief achieves greatness once again on Double Infinity.”
This summer, Big Thief embarks on the second leg of their Somersault Slide 360 Tour, following last year’s initial run which included stops at The Hollywood Bowl, marking their largest non-festival headline show yet, and their largest New York headline show to date at Forest Hills Stadium. This next run of North American dates begin in Burlington on August 2 and wrap up on October 6 in Denver at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with many stops along the way including Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Seattle, and more. The Independent says, “Watching [Big Thief] play, it’s clear you are watching a major artist in their prime.” “I think Adrianne Lenker may be reaching something like a Dylan-level here,” says NPR Music’s Robin Hilton. “I think we’re witnessing a legend being made.”
