press release: Boliviamanta Dance Group will perform at the Verona Public Library on Thursday, August 27, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Dressed in beautiful hand-made and imported costumes, this Bolivian dance troupe expresses the South American country’s culture through music and dance. Cecilia Miranda is the director, co-founder, and costume designer for the group. Dancers of all ages will perform.
This performance is presented as part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History program series. Latino Americans: 500 Years of History supports the American public’s exploration of the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped shape the United States over the last five centuries and who have become, with more than 50 million people, the country’s largest minority group.
Latino Americans: 500 Years of History has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Local funding provided by Beyond the Page. Community partners include the Friends of the Verona Public Library, Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Public Television, and Latino Chamber of Commerce of Dane County.
