press release: Local novelist Erin Celello will be the featured author at the Friends of Madison Public Library’s 19th annual Book Club Café fundraiser on Tuesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at Central Library.
Celello has written two fiction books, one of which, Learning to Stay, is being adapted as a play by James DeVita for the Forward Theater. Learning to Stay tells the journey of a young woman, Elise, whose husband returns from serving in Iraq a changed person due to a traumatic brain injury. Elise encounters difficulties in caring for her husband while trying to hold on to a demanding job, and questions her marriage after her husband leaves to stay with family.
Book Club Café is an annual Friends event that brings book club members and other book lovers together to honor Madison’s public libraries and celebrate reading. Attendees enjoy coffee, tea and desserts; a book gift basket raffle; and a complimentary Book Club Favorites booklet.
