2029 will mark the Centennial of one of America’s most significant decades: the 1930s. It was a time when the stock market crashed, unemployment ran high, drought turned a large portion of the great plains into a dust bowl, Hollywood provided escapist films of reassurance, and President Roosevelt offered the nation hope with his “New Deal.”
Through story and song, this musical revue Brother, Can You Spare a Dime honors the people who lived through these difficult times. Sharing realistic stories of hardship and hope and singing classic songs that we still know and love today, the cast brings alive the nation’s struggles, pain, and continued optimism.
