POSTPONED: Busking for Books

Busking for Books is moving to Saturday, May 9
We are sorry to announce that due to a forecast of cold, rainy weather for Saturday, Literacy Network's annual "Busking for Books" event will be rescheduled for (a hopefully sunnier) Saturday, May 9, 1:00-3:00pm.
We hope that all performers and volunteers will be able to accommodate this reschedule, and that our supporters understand that wet weather and musical instruments are not a good combination. If you missed the original sign-up deadline and are interested in being a performer or non-musical volunteer, now's your chance! Contact Jen Davie via jdavie@litnetwork.org or (608) 244-3911.
press release:
Busking for Books
Saturday, April 25
1:00-3:00 pm on State Street
Busking for Books is an annual event in which local musicians & artists will be performing on sidewalks in 25+ locations throughout State Street to raise funds for Literacy Network. Busking for Books is about raising awareness, friends and funds for adult literacy programs while highlighting Madison's rich performing arts community.
We need volunteers! Each busking group deserves a little non-musical support. No experience necessary- just a fun loving attitude and willingness to listen to a musical group for 2 hours.
How it works: Volunteers will check-in at Peace Park off State Street at 12:15 pm to receive an introduction about Literacy Network, literature to share with interested passers-by, and a donations bucket. Then, you and another volunteer will head to an assigned busking location at one of 27 corners of State Street. From 1:00-3:00 pm you'll be there to share information about Literacy Network and collect the tips the buskers receive. Volunteers are then responsible for collecting and returning the money and leftover literature to Literacy Staff at Hawk's Bar and Grill following the end of the performances.
We are proud to welcome the following performers!
