CapitalQ Theatre Festival

Zak Stowe
The CapitalQ Theatre Festival is a follow-up to StageQ's long-running Queer Shorts productions.
(2022 critics' pick) Queer Shorts, a long-running rite of summer in Madison, is morphing this year into the new CapitalQ Theatre Festival, which will feature a baker's dozen new and original short plays from local and national playwrights celebrating queer voices. Short play performances or staged readings take place in the evening on both stages of the Bartell (with programs alternating to allow the chance to see them all); free master classes take place in the afternoon. Find a schedule and updates at stageq.org.
media release: Join us for our annual Pride Month celebration when StageQ takes over both Bartell Theatre stages for one weekend to present brand new play readings, 10-minute shorts, and one-act plays by up-and-coming queer playwrights from around the country. Along with FREE workshops and masterclasses where you can learn about all aspects of theater, we will celebrate Pride the best way we know how: highlighting new, queer voices telling their stories.
