press release: The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) invites the public and state legislators to the Celebration of Student Engagement at the State Capitol Rotunda in Madison on Tuesday, February 16, any time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wisconsin Technical College System President Morna Foy and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch will offer brief remarks beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The showcase is an annual event highlighting how student learning, in and out of the classroom, impacts the state. Students from Wisconsin's 16 technical colleges will share their service learning and community-based projects with visitors. Diverse projects on display include:
Industrial Robotics
Lab Science
Criminal Justice
Health Simulations
Parks Promotion
Cemetery Restoration
Cross-County Trail Lighting
Welding
Veterinary Science
And more
"The highlighted projects demonstrate how our students often combine learning with working, community service, outreach and entrepreneurship. While many of our students balance work, family and school, they also consistently find time to give back to their communities," said Dr. Morna Foy, president of the Wisconsin Technical College System.
"Employers in every sector and region rely on Wisconsin's technical colleges to advance their goals. It's fitting, then, to recognize both our highly skilled students and the 16 technical colleges that are true community assets."
Visitors to the free student showcase, from legislators, to parents, to business and industry professionals, will experience how technical college students' learn through real-world projects that better the lives of Wisconsinites.
