A seven-piece band on stage.
The Civil Engineers (from left): Tim Lopez, Kyle Rightley, Molly Fish, Carl Rettke (behind Molly), Jason Buck, Garrick Rohm, Drew Money.
The Civil Engineers are one of Madison’s great, big soul and R&B bands, sprawling across the stage with as many as seven players. Lead singer Molly Fish is a Tina Turner-style shouter who never rests, never lets up. The band has a community conscience, too; this show is a “Get Out the Vote” benefit for the League of Women Voters, just three days before the general election. With Magic Conch.
media release: How do we bring back the raucous hootenanny that was the election days of yore? Is it through catchy taglines? "Why not get hyped for democracy?" "Voting is a vibe." "Elections should be a celebration, not an obligation." We'll leave that up to those whose pen is mightier for our strength is in funk, soul, and rock. Once again The Civil Engineers team up with Magic Conch to raise money for The League of Women Voters of Dane County and celebrate our right to paaaaaaaaaaarrrrrtay... and by party we mean vote.
We have been excited to partner with LWVDC for the second time and we're proud to support their civic engagement efforts; powering democracy on election day and beyond.
About the League of Women Voters from the League of Women Voters of Dane County: "As the nation’s oldest grassroots voting rights organization, the League of Women Voters is dedicated to ensuring that all voters have a fair and equal opportunity to register and cast their ballot."
