Wild Powwwers
Seattle-based grunge revival trio Wild Powwwers meld that classic Northwestern rock sound with bits of psychedelic rock. Lead singer Lara Hilgeman’s voice croons and cracks, while the instruments blend into a powerful noise that sounds way bigger than just three instruments. With a pair of Madison bands: rock trio Clean Room and post-hardcore outfit Dumpster Dick.
press release: Praise for Wild Powwers:
Wild Powwers, formerly just Powwers, specialize in the sort of carefree grunge riff-rock that gets better the dirtier it gets. Each layer of meticulously gnarly distortion, each off-kilter lyric, drenched in garage-echo reverb, is pure Pacific Northwest filth. - KEXP
Skin' is shaping up to be the band's strongest collection to date. Massive hooks, psychedelia, post punk grunge, it’s all in there. Loud and clear, thanks in part to Billy Anderson who recorded and mixed the LP (Melvins, Jawbreaker). - Punk Rock Theory
This Seattle trio commingle nuanced grunge and psych-rock elements in songs that shimmy their way into your memory with breezy ease. - The Stranger
I’ve never, ever, heard drums hit as hard as Lupe Flores does. She floats behind her kit just absolutely crushing every beat and singing harmonies while lead singer Lara Hilgemann owns every song with a voice that ranges from angelic to destructive. - American Standard Time
