media release: Fast-paced physical comedy, moving set pieces, and a classic whodunit come together this April as Sun Prairie Civic Theatre presents Clue: On Stage.
Performances will take place April 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 7 p.m., and April 12 and 19 at 2 p.m. at the Central Heights Theater, located inside Central Heights Middle School, 220 Kroncke Drive in Sun Prairie.
Based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn and written for the stage by Sandy Rustin, the production transforms the beloved board game and movie into a live theatrical experience driven by rapid-fire dialogue, exaggerated characters and precise comedic timing.
What sets this production apart is its physicality and staging. The show relies heavily on movement and choreography, with actors navigating quick entrances, exits and comedic sequences that keep the action constantly in motion. Meanwhile, dynamic set pieces shift throughout the performance to reveal the mansion’s iconic rooms, from the library to the ballroom, bringing the world of Clue to life in real time on stage.
“It’s controlled chaos in the best way,” said Sarah Piper director of the production. “The pacing is nonstop, the comedy is very physical, and the set is almost a character itself as it transforms throughout the show.”
The story follows six guests invited to a mysterious dinner party, each hiding secrets of their own. When their host is suddenly murdered, the evening spirals into a race to determine who committed the crime, with what weapon, and in which room … before anyone else falls victim.
The approximately 90-minute production runs without intermission, maintaining a brisk pace that mirrors the urgency and energy of the unfolding mystery.
Featuring a cast of local performers from Sun Prairie and the surrounding communities, the production highlights the talent and collaboration that define Sun Prairie Civic Theatre’s community-focused mission.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors (60+) and active military, and $15 for youth (18 and under) and full-time students. Seating is reserved. Tickets can be purchased online at sunprairiecivictheatre.com or at the door prior to each performance.
