Compassion Under Fire: Stories of Combat Medics
Wisconsin Veterans Museum 30 W. Mifflin St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
media release: As we remember the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, two exhibits have opened at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum to remember the souls lost, the first responders, and those who were motivated to serve afterward.
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum honors all first responders with a window banner exhibit, Compassion Under Fire: Stories of Combat Medics. The display invites the public to come inside to learn about Rachael Hugo, a combat medic who was killed in Iraq in 2007. A video interview with Rachael Hugo's father, Kermit, is here.
An accompanying digital exhibit September 11, 2001: Our Veterans Remember, includes reactions taken from oral history interviews of Wisconsin veterans who were active duty, had recently separated from service, or were contemplating enlisting at the time of the attacks.
The exhibits will be on view through the month of September.
