media release: con vivo!...music with life, Madison’s professional chamber music ensemble, opens its 22nd season with music by Mozart, Gounod, and Schubert. The concert, entitled “Fall Colors”, is on Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1609 University Ave. across from Camp Randall. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for seniors and students. The concert features a wind serenade by Mozart, the Petite Symphonie by Charles Gounod and the seldom performed wind octet by Franz Schubert. Audience members are invited to join con vivo! musicians after the concert for a free reception to meet the musicians and to discuss this chamber music literature.
Artistic Director Robert Taylor, in remarking about the concert said, “We are excited to perform the seldom heard Wind Octet by Franz Schubert. This piece is only a fragment with two movements, but it is a small gem from a wonderful composer. Also on our program is the Petite Symphonie for wind instruments by Charles Gounod. Finally, a lovely Serenade for winds by Mozart rounds out the program. We continue the tradition of bringing to our audience works that are familiar and some that are new. So come join us for our opening concert of our 22nd season.”
con vivo! is a professional chamber music ensemble comprised of Madison area musicians assembled from the ranks of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and various other performing groups familiar to Madison audiences.
