Coptic Stitch Book Binding
press release: Learn how to do Coptic stitch bookbinding at the Verona Public Library on Monday, September 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Librarian Mark Cullen will teach participants a simple hand-sewn, non-adhesive bookbinding technique first used in second century Egypt. This style of binding features visible stitching along the spine, with a distinctive and attractive teardrop-shaped pattern. The stitching allows the book to lay completely flat when opened.
All supplies will be provided and participants will take home a completed project. This class is for adults. Registration is required and is limited to 16 participants.
Free and open to the public. To register, or for information, visit www.veronapubliclibrary.org, or call 608-845-7180. The Verona Public Library is located at 500 Silent Street.
