Criminal, the award-winning podcast about crime, is bringing their live show to Madison on Saturday, Sept 21 at the Barrymore Theater
Criminal tells the stories of people who’ve done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught somewhere in the middle.
On Sept 21, host Phoebe Judge will present brand new stories, told live on stage, and scored and mixed live by co-creator Lauren Spohrer. Each story is accompanied by visuals—photographs of forensic evidence, historical court documents, and original animations by Julienne Alexander. Audiences will get to know the Criminal team, peek behind the curtain of how they find stories, and might even find themselves being questioned by Phoebe Judge.
I’m pleased to offer you an interview with Phoebe Judge and/or Lauren Spohrer about the upcoming live show, the history of Criminal and how it's become one of the most beloved podcasts around. I also have art if you'd like to include it in you event listings.
More About Criminal Podcast
New episodes come out twice a month, always on Fridays. Each episode tells the story of a different crime — some are funny, some are tragic — and each one will change the way you look at the world around you. From PRX’s Radiotopia podcast network, Criminal is heard by millions of listeners. TIME Magazine calls it "the purist's true crime series" and New York Magazine says “there are few shows that feel more alive.”
Criminal launched January of 2014, and is based in Durham, North Carolina. In 2015, Criminaal won a Third Coast International Audio Festival “Best Documentary” and is often named to "best-of" lists, including in WIRED, The Atlantic, USA Today, Rolling Stone, and more.

“The thinking person’s true crime podcast.” – The News & Observer
“No matter how strange or ghastly the crime, the voice of the host Phoebe Judge somehow remains implacable and oddly soothing.” – The New York Times
“Criminal is a true crime podcast that understands crime as something sociological, historical, even anthropological – that crime is a function of people, time, and place. With incredible sound design, marvelous writing, and a boldness in the way it makes its choices, there are few shows that feel more alive.” – New York Magazine
