The author of the 2018-19 Go Big Read selection is Dan Egan, a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter and Pulitzer Prize finalist who published The Death and Life of the Great Lakes, the scary chronicle of the threats to the world’s largest source of surface fresh water. Egan will take part in a conversation with Jake Vander Zanden, UW-Madison limnology professor.

Dan Egan is a reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He has twice been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and he has won the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award, the John B. Oakes Award, the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Award, and the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award. A graduate of the Columbia Journalism School, he lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his wife and children.
