Dane County Executive Candidates Forum
Madison College-South 2429 Perry St., Madison, Wisconsin 53713
media release: Voters will have a chance to hear from all four Dane County Executive candidates ahead of the August Primary at a forum dedicated to human services topics on Tuesday, July 23, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Madison College Goodman South Campus (2429 Perry Street, Madison). The forum is sponsored by the Dane County Purchase of Services Committee and the Children, Youth & Family Consortium of Dane County. The League of Women Voters is moderating the event.
Attendees can expect to hear from candidates on a wide range of pressing human services issues, including housing affordability, homelessness, mental health services and violence prevention. The Health and Human Services Department is the largest expenditure in the Dane County Budget, making up nearly 40% of funds, and serves approximately 65,000 county residents each year.
“With the primary just a few weeks away, we wanted to make sure voters have a chance to hear from all of the Dane County Executive candidates about their vision for human services,” said Scott Strong, Chair of the Purchase of Services (POS) Agencies of Dane County, one of the organizers of the event. “As the director of a non-profit agency that provides human services, I’ve seen first-hand how valuable it is to have a shared vision and partnership with the County Executive and elected officials around the critical services we provide to our communities.”
The candidate forum is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
Individuals who are not able to attend in person, can access the forum via Zoom: Meeting ID 873 7504 7626, Passcode 240050.
The Purchase of Services (POS) Coalition represents non-profit agencies providing care across the continuum including child protection and early prevention, housing, violence prevention, aging and elderly, mental health and substance abuse and physical disabilities. Since 2015 the Purchase of Service Coalition has been partnering with Dane County to develop effective and efficient solutions to addressing the needs of these populations in our communities. The POS Coalition is currently advocating for the Dane Co. Human Services to increased investment in our non-profit service agencies, build a robust collaborative approach, and make appropriate systems changes that support effective service provision for the most vulnerable residents of our community.
