Disparities in Educational Attainment
press release: A discussion of educational public policy
Examining the educational attainment gaps faced by various demographic groups across the U.S. provides a window into wider issues facing our society today.
Join us for this conversation featuring UW–Madison faculty and distinguished members of the education community.
The discussion will highlight opportunity gaps in K–12 education based on income, gender, geographic area, race, and more. Learn about the snowball effect these gaps can create, explore what we can do to bridge them, and ask questions of the expert panel.
The panel will include:
- John Diamond — Kellner Family Distinguished Chair in Urban Education and professor of educational leadership and policy analysis at UW–Madison
- Luther Olsen ’73 (R-Ripon) — Wisconsin state senator and co-chair of the Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding
- Gloria Reyes ’97 — deputy mayor of the city of Madison and member of the Madison School District Board of Education
- Diana Hess — dean of the UW–Madison School of Education and Karen A. Falk Distinguished Chair of Education.
Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of education in America.
Light appetizers will be provided.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is strongly encouraged. Please register by April 4.
