Downtown Doors Kick-off
The Forum 30 State St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Downtown Doors is a collaboration supported by Madison Art Commission’s Blink temporary public art program with major funding from the Room Tax Commission. Downtown property owners sponsored their doors to help pay for a portion of the installation costs and stretch the BLINK Program funds to increase the number of doors that were able to be included in this inaugural outdoor gallery.
DOOR LOCATIONS: A google map providing the locations and a print guide will be available beginning May 1. Visitdowntownmadison.com will have all the links.
EVENT KICK OFF: Everyone is invited to the unveiling of Downtown Doors at 11am on May 8, 2019 (rescheduled due to weather), at the opening of Summer in Your City Café at the Top of State Street. VIP guests will offer remarks, businesses will offer snacks, artists will be on hand and there will be a grand unveiling of the two “Trompe L’oeil” Pretend Doors on the wall of the Historical Museum.
FIND THEM ALL: Pick up a collector’s guide at the Downtown Madison Visitor Center by Lisa Link Peace Park, or at the Visitor Booth at the Top of State Street. Visitors and residents are invited to come downtown and see if you can find them all. #DowntownDoors. Art will remain up for approximately two 2 years.
