press release: Marsh Haven Nature Center, a non-profit nature center located on the north end of the Horicon Marsh, three miles east of Waupun at W10145 Highway 49, has a special day planned to celebrate Earth Day 2019. Join us on Sunday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a fun and educational event.
Bring the kids to make recycled crafts and seed bombs, and to meet some of the Marsh Haven animal ambassadors. Hike the trails, play Marsh Haven Bingo, and explore the museum displays. Learn about ways to help the Earth while playing an Earth Day scavenger hunt.
At 11 a.m. attend the Creepy, Crawly & Cool program in the Respect Our Earth theater. Meet some of Marsh Haven’s reptile animal ambassadors like snakes, turtles, and tortoises.
Have you ever wanted to see a hawk or owl close up? At 1 p.m. there will be a Wild Birds of Prey program. This program by Renee Wahlen, director at Marsh Haven Nature Center, will introduce some of Wisconsin’s raptors through a photo presentation, mounted specimens, and LIVE birds. These are educational birds and cannot be returned to the wild due to a variety of permanent injuries. Learn about these amazing birds and their importance to our ecosystem, find out what characteristics define raptors, and discover secrets of the silent hunter – the owl. The particular live birds may vary by program, but may include a Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Eastern Screech Owl, Great Horned Owl or Barred Owl.
There is a $3 for adults, $2 for children admission fee for this special event, which includes all activities. Marsh Haven members are always free. Sign up for a $35 Family Membership that day and get free admission for the 2019 season. Bring a picnic lunch and plan to spend Sunday, April 28 celebrating Earth Day at Marsh Haven Nature Center where nature is appreciated, conserved, and celebrated.
