The 2019 Sun Prairie Fire Truck Parade.
media release: Come on out to Downtown Sun Prairie on Saturday, November 30, to experience the 109th Annual Fire & Lights Parade, followed by a festive tree lighting ceremony at the Sun Prairie Historical Library & Museum, with a special appearance by Santa Claus! This holiday event is a collaboration between the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department, Sun Prairie Fire Department, the Historical Library & Museum, and Visit Sun Prairie.
The event schedule begins at 5:30 p.m. with live music from the Sun Prairie Area Community Band and commentary provided by the Sun Prairie Media Center. Beginning at 5:50 p.m., attendees can enjoy entertainment and holiday treats while waiting for the fire trucks to arrive. The Fusion Dance Academy will kick off the festivities with a performance in front of the Sun Prairie Historical Library & Museum. Local fire and public safety departments will showcase their holiday-decorated trucks, departing from Kroncke Drive at approximately 5:55 p.m. and parading east on Main Street, where they will park side-by-side at the intersection of Main Street and Church/Market Streets.
The Fire Truck Parade will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony in front of the Museum at 6:30 p.m. Santa will then make special visits on the steps of the Museum from 6:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Once the fire trucks are parked, Santa Claus will work his holiday magic to light the Downtown Christmas tree in front of the Historical Library & Museum. After the tree is lit, attendees can get an up-close look at the fire trucks and take photos with Santa. Finally, at 7:30 p.m., the vehicles will depart, and Main Street will reopen.
“The Annual Fire & Lights Parade is a Sun Prairie tradition that not only showcases the spirit of the holiday season but also brings our community together for a night of joy, entertainment, and celebration,” said Alyse Peters, Special Events & Sponsorships Manager. “I can’t wait to see everyone come out to enjoy the festivities, meet Santa, and witness the beautiful tree lighting!”
