media release: Experience the magic of winter at San Damiano's Fire and Wonder Winter Gathering. With snow blanketing the landscape, this event promises a true winter wonderland experience with fun activities for all ages, a warm bonfire, and the chance to discover the history and culture of the Ho-Chunk Nation through storytelling.
We are honored to welcome Janice Rice, a respected member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, retired librarian, and educator with expertise in literature, culture, history, and language preservation. As an environmentalist who deeply values the waters and lands of this region, Janice is excited to share traditional Ho-Chunk stories for an evening of tradition and connection. Storytelling will be offered in small groups at 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 PM in the Frank Allis House.

Parking: Due to snow-covered grass, parking is limited to accessible parking only. We encourage carpooling or walking. Guests may be dropped off by the house before parking along nearby streets.
Please do not park in local business lots, and note that Monona Grove High School has an event, so their lot is not available.

Frank Allis House: You will have the opportunity to step inside this 131-year-old historic home to warm up with hot drinks and enjoy storytelling.
Please note that due to its age, the house does not have accessibility features. Capacity is limited to 49 guests at a time on the first floor only, and there will not be house tours.
Restroom: A porta potty is available outside.
