Peggy Choy (Dance & Asian American Studies) speaks about “FLIGHT: torn like a rose”—a dance saga--punctuated by video excerpts from her recent New York premiere at Kumble Theater this past January. “FLIGHT: torn like a rose”--inspired by Conference of the Birds, the great 12th Century Persian sufi poem by Farid ud-Din Attar—is a dance performance about the world’s birds searching for the Rose of Sublime Love atop the world’s highest mountain. Minister Caliph Muab-el will speak about the FLIGHT’s connections of sufi thought, and dancers Ze Motion and Lacouir Yancey will perform a duet, PARROT BROTHERS, an excerpt from FLIGHT.
