Free Vet Care

Underdog Pet Rescue 2508 S. Stoughton Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53716
media release: Underdog Pet Rescue and Vet Clinic started receiving supply funding from The Street Dog Coalition in 2022 to provide free medical care and related services to pets of people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. In 2022 and 2023, four annual events held helped dozens and dozens of people and their pets, and since then volunteers have been offering monthly dates to help serve the Madison community. Each event has hit maximum capacity, with 20-30 families helped each month.
Underdog will be holding an event for people and pets at Underdog’s new location at 2508 S Stoughton Rd in the warehouse portion of the building. This will take place from 10am-2pm. In addition to the offering of free veterinary exams and wellness services for pets, items like toiletry kits, pet supplies, water, and snacks will be provided. Vouchers for pet spay and neuter will be available as well.
Underdog director Lauren Brinkman shared, “Underdog Pet Rescue opened our own clinic to help animals within our adoption program. Later, we realized the value in helping pets in our community get the care they need so we stop the cycle of people needing to give up pets due to not having the funds to care for them. Underdog Vet Services offers affordable pricing at our clinic, but by offering free pop up vet clinics (thanks to funding by the Street Dog Coalition), we can do so much more. Offering free services allows people who are struggling financially to take the important necessary actions for their pets to live happy, healthy lives.” Veterinarian, Dr. Lindsey Alman was thrilled to learn about The Street Dog Coalition program after having helped provide care for homeless pets in California.
Anyone experiencing or at risk of homelessness is encouraged to stop by and utilize these services. Please show up around 10am and be prepared to wait.
