Girls Coding Day
WHAT TO DO: Program an app, smash the patriarchy
Saturday, Dec. 10, Central Library, 9:30 am-4:30 pm
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that there’s been a push recently to get more girls interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), in an effort to close the gender gap in these fields. Madym’s Girls Coding Day is part of that push, offering free coding workshops where girls in grades 4-6 (9:30 am or 1:30 pm sessions) and 7-12 (9:30 am) can learn to program their very own app or website. Register at maydm.org.
Maydm's Girls Coding Day is the coding event of the winter! Learn to code by programming websites, mobile apps, and more on December 10th at the Madison Central Public Library.
4th-6th graders || Build your own app with Swift Playground and MIT AppInventor! Join us at either our morning section (9:30-12:30) or in the afternoon (1:30-4:30). Arrive at 9:15/1:15.
7th-12th graders || Build your own website throughout the course of the day using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Join us for a day long workshop (9:30-4:30) with lunch provided. Arrive at 9:15.
This will be a fun day full of programming, design, community, snacks, and women exploring tech. We invite parents to check out the student projects at the end of each section! Give the gift of coding this Holiday season with Maydm!
Girls Coding Day is supported by our key event sponsors:
