Give it a Whirl

media release: With a goal to help young women realize their best potential through mountain biking, Little Bellas is hosting a free Give It a Whirl event on Monday, September 9 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Quarry Ridge Recreation Area in Fitchburg. Little Bellas has been organizing mountain bike programs for girls across the United States since 2007; Madison is the latest area to “give it a whirl.”

About Little Bellas

The Madison Give it a Whirl day aims to get girls of all abilities either introduced to the sport or help them develop an already present interest. Based around having fun, participants will play lots of games (on and off the bike), explore and ride trails, and incorporate basic bike skills.

Little Bellas also uses the mountain bike experience to help the girls gain confidence, build camaraderie with other girls on bikes, seek out new adventures, and get outdoors! These are learning skills that the girls can take with them throughout life.

The Madison Give It a Whirl event is a great opportunity for girls looking to try out mountain biking as well as for those who are looking to explore some new trails in their area!

This program is an all-girls, Give it a Whirl Day held at Quarry Ridge Recreation Area. With more than three miles of spectacular trails, the park is a mountain bikers' paradise! And better yet, it's a Little Bellas paradise too!

What's Included:

• Snacks 
• Games
• Riding bikes, of course!

What to Bring:

• Bike-specific Helmet
• Mountain bike - In good working order (with hand brakes, gears, and treaded tires)
• Water
• Closed-toed shoes
• Rain gear or extra layers if necessary

Schedule:

• 40 mins to 1 hr - Trail ride in small, age/ability appropriate groups
• 15 min - Snack (provided)
• 45 min - Games and activities

Little Bellas has been evolving at a white-hot pace since it began 15 years ago. There are now chapters in 22 states, some with multiple camps happening throughout the season.
