CANCELED: GLEAM: Art in a New Light
August 19 update from Olbrich Gardens: It is with great disappointment that we must cancel Olbrich Botanical Gardens’ GLEAM exhibit for 2020. After consultation with Public Health officials and the Madison Parks Division, it has been determined that holding GLEAM under the current restrictions is no longer a feasible option.
The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff is our top priority. We were looking forward to sharing this much-loved art exhibit with our community this fall, especially at a time when the world needs some sparkle.
While the lights will go out for GLEAM in 2020, our team is already working to ensure they’ll shine even brighter in 2021!
GLEAM is a fundraiser for Olbrich, raising over $100,000 each year to help keep the Gardens free and accessible for all. Please consider pitching in a few dollars to help us offset this significant loss of revenue.
press release:
Opening Viewing: Saturday, August 29 | 7:30-10:30 p.m.; Evening Viewings: Wed.-Sat. | Sept. 2-Oct. 31
We're happy to announce that Olbrich Gardens is moving forward with this year's GLEAM, Art in a New Light exhibit! Now in its sixth year, GLEAM offers visitors a unique and exciting new way to experience our 16-acre outdoor gardens at night, with stunning light installations created by some of the most innovative artists and designers from around the country.
To provide a safe and comfortable visitor experience, we've made some significant changes to how visitors will be able to view the exhibit:
- Limited attendance capacity for each evening viewing to provide space for social distancing.
- Advance timed tickets are available online to ensure a contactless transaction; walk-up admissions not available.
- One-way route through the entire exhibit.
- Separate entry & exit.
- Mobile-friendly virtual exhibit map can be viewed from a smartphone, eliminating the touch point of paper guides.
- Face coverings are required indoors and strongly encouraged when outdoors.
With a limited capacity, it’s important to purchase your GLEAM tickets as early as possible to guarantee you don’t miss this special opportunity. Attendance typically increases in toward the end of the exhibit in October resulting in a surge of visitors that we will not be able to accommodate this year in order to maintain proper social distancing. So don’t delay and get your GLEAM tickets today!
We can't for you to see what’s GLEAMing this year!
