This is the first ever matinee concert for the MSO's Concert Organ Series. “I love the [afternoon] slot because folks can come downtown and have lunch or they can stay for dinner after the concert,” principal organist Greg Zelek tells Isthmus. Zelek has mapped out an all-Bach program that includes three large-scale works, including Bach’s famous Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor. Sprinkled throughout the afternoon are famous Bach works written for other instruments that Zelek will arrange for the organ.
media release: Your season begins with the first-ever Organ Sunday matinee concert featuring masterworks by Johann Sebastian Bach, some of the most profound and enduring pieces in the organ repertoire, showcasing his technical brilliance and enduring humanity.
