Guided Bird Walk
Korth Park W8930 Korth Lane, Lake Mills, Wisconsin 53551
Join Jefferson/Dodge County Bird Walks and Friends of Glacial Heritage Area for a bird walk through the tallgrass prairies of Korth County Park on Saturday, July 18. The walk will go from 9 AM to about noon, beginning at the Elm Point Road shelter. To get to the shelter, take County Road S, west of Lake Mills, to Elm Point Road. All are welcome, including families with children.
The tour will be an easy stroll through Korth Park’s mowed trails, and the group makes frequent stops to observe and identify birds throughout the prairies and western shore of Rock Lake. Korth Park is one of the Glacial Heritage Area’s most scenic parks with many amenities – in addition to restored native prairies, the Park maintains oak savanna habitat, natural lake shoreline, two shelters with restrooms (one with kitchen) for rent, a community garden, many benches and picnic tables, a nature-based playground and great vistas of Rock Lake. As always, walk leaders encourage participants to bring binoculars. See the Jefferson/Dodge County Bird Walks web site for a map and walk information: http://www.theropod.org/July15.html.
