This unique event features seven rising star singers from around the United States — countertenors Cody Bowers and Matthew Reese; sopranos Olivia Doig, Emily Donato and Chea Young Kang; and tenors Andrew Bearden Brown and Fran Daniel Laucerica — selected from more than 125 auditions, each performing two works by Handel for a panel of judges. media release: We are delighted to introduce the finalists in this year’s 10th annual Handel Aria Competition, which will take place on Friday, August 18 at 7:30 in the historic Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, Wisconsin. These seven singers were selected from the over 125 auditions we received from around the world.

The seven finalists will each perform two arias for the panel of judges. Our “house band,” the Madison Bach Musicians, will again provide period accompaniment for the final round of the competition.
This year’s Handel Aria Competition will be open to a limited number of in-person ticket holders, and available everywhere via livestream. We invite you to relive the excitement of last year’s competition via YouTube, and are pleased to note that the recordings of the 2021 & 2022 livestreams have now been viewed over 8,000 times. These videos are one of the ways in which the competition helps advance the careers of all the participating singers.
