The state of Michigan has had good luck when it comes to garage bands: MC5, the Stooges, the White Stripes and now Heaters, a Grand Rapids-based trio that combines those bands’ ramshackle sound with blissed-out psychedelics. Their 2014 release Solstice blends those elements masterfully — tracks like “No Fuss” and “Lowlife” are more indicative of a band ready to break out of the garage than stay tethered to it.
