press release: The Evolution of Centro Hispano and the Latino Flavors that Influence our Palate
Wisconsin is home to many immigrants from Latin & Central America. The cultural customs and traditions brought by each group that falls under the "Hispanic/Latino" category are significant to the cultural development of this state. Hispanic/Latino communities are very diverse, with a wide range of socioeconomic characteristics, racial and ethnic backgrounds, cultural traditions, and language abilities. They include recent immigrants as well as generations of U.S.-born and permanent residents (Source: dhs.wisconsin.gov).
Centro Hispano was founded in 1983 to meet the needs of the Hispanic/Latino community in Dane County. Are you familiar with the Hispanic population in Dane County? How have they changed the flavors of Wisconsin?
Join Sujhey Beisser, author of the food blog Five Senses Palate and former board president of Centro Hispano to learn about the growth of the Latino population in Dane County. The evolution of the largest non-profit that serves the Latino community, and the flavors that have been changing the palate of our culture
