The Walleye War and its Aftermath
The social conflict that took place in the 1980s and early 1990s over the exercise of Ojibwe Indian treaty rights to hunt, fish, and father beyond the borders of their reservations captured the attention of the nation. University of Wisconsin - Madison anthropologist Larry Nesper, author of "The Walleye War: The Struggle for Ojibwe Spearfishing and Treaty Rights," will discuss the conflict and the ways in which it has transformed the relationship between the tribes and the state of Wisconsin.
