What is a Charrette? A CSH Charrette is an intensive planning process that jumpstarts and streamlines how a community develops or updates its plan to end homelessness. It provides an opportunity for collaboration among diverse stakeholders to solve community problems related to homelessness within a very short period.
For each issue area, the room is set up to surround a “fishbowl” of panelists. The panelists’ discussion, prompted by questions that target solutions to the issue areas, lasts about an hour. The observers are asked not to comment or ask questions during this time. Following the fishbowl, a CSH facilitator encourages the observers to respond to what they heard and provide their own expertise.
