The perfect travel diary for any extreme backpacker, How to Travel the World for Free is the story of comedian Michael Wigge's attempt to travel from Europe to Antarctica. The outrageous catch? He must sleep, eat, and travel for free. This unique and funny documentary tells his journey of over 150 days, across four continents and eleven countries. Wigge immerses himself in fascinating subcultures, sleeps on the street with homeless people and eats flowers. With the help of over 100 people he travels the 25,000 miles, paying nothing. This unusual travel diary combines adventure with humorous situations and insightful interviews about people’s relationship with money.
The film is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Performing Arts Committee. This film was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
