RSVP for Identifying and Supporting At-Risk and Trafficked Youth
press release: Human Trafficking occurs in every county of Wisconsin and as the Capital Times has recently reported, sex trafficking of youth here in Dane County is pervasive, To address this growing challenge, SlaveFree Madison will be hosting a day long conference.
The goals of the event are to raise awareness about human trafficking among middle and high school aged youth in Dane County, to provide tools to identify signs and behaviors of at-risk or trafficked youth, and to provide information about organizations and resources that schools and others who work with youth can look to for support.
The keynote address will be given by Theresa Flores, a nationally recognized advocate for survivors of sex trafficking and a survivor herself, who has written about her experiences and about the issue of sex trafficking in two books: The Slave Across the Street and Slavery in the Land of the Free.
