“I’m not a Pilot” Opens RMF Summer Concert Series
Milwaukee’s wildly popular rock/jazz/classical crossover band, I’m Not a Pilot, opens the 2015 season of summer concerts for the Rural Musicians Forum on June 8. I’m Not A Pilot was originally a solo project that turned into a four-piece band it is today. Milwaukee Symphony’s Peter Thomas, who plays a devilishly insistent cello in the group, says “The name is rooted in a desire to create an ensemble that challenged the standards of the music industry and does something in between classical and rock or pop or jazz. It alludes to being a passenger on a plane (or simply in life) knowing the destination of his journey, but uncertain of what the route will bring him through. The name is as unique as the music we play.”
I’m Not a Pilot combines a fascinating group of musicians. Mark Glatzel is a talented songwriter, singer and pianist. He’s also a window washer, dog trainer, valet, bartender, server, designer, and artist. Adrian Esguerra plays bass and sings backing vocals. And, he designs large public signs seen all around Wisconsin. Steve Vorass is a “maniac on the drums,” as Thomas says. “He strives not for flashy loud spotlight soloist moments but sits perfectly in the pocket of a groove and never misses a hit!” On the side, he designs t-shirts, websites and all of the INAP posters and graphics.
Hearing that Milwaukee’s I’m Not a Pilot opens the Rural Musicians Forum’s 2015 season, Charles Nevsimal of INFO* Magazine said: “I'm Not A Pilot is four musicians exploring new sonic territories and in doing so, they're charting a course to the stars."
I’m Not A Pilot’s music can be heard on iTunes, YouTube, Pandora, Spotify, Rdio, Amazon, and CD Baby.
I’m Not a Pilot performs at 7:30p.m., June 8, at Unity Chapel south of Spring Green. There is no ticket charge but a freewill offering to support the concert series will be taken.
Unity Chapel is located at 6596 County Road T, just east of Hwy 23. The chapel is a living testament to the simple and contemplative lives early settlers created for themselves in southwest Wisconsin. Indoor seating plus spacious lawns for chairs blankets, picnics.
