“Imperfect Gentlemen” is created by Ben Moffat and Bradley Wayne Smith and performed by Ben Moffat. The work is based on events from Moffat’s life and how his father decided to live as a woman in the early 1980s. The show explores how different family members react to the change, the forces that shape our identities, and the plasticity and durability of personality.
Ben Moffat is a storyteller, actor, clown, puppeteer, stilt-walker and whatever else the job entails. He splits his time between Hawaii and Southwest Wisconsin where his ancestors settled in the 1830s. He has performed nationally and internationally on his own and with Monkey Waterfall, a dance-theatre company he co-founded in Hawaii.
Bradley Wayne Smith lives in London with his wife, Filipa Tomas. Their company, Single Shoe Productions combines visual storytelling, physical comedy and a love for the absurd to create theatrical experiences that challenge boundaries, break down walls and explore the connections that hold us together.
The mission of Trinity United Methodist Church is to live out God’s hospitality by welcoming and loving all people. It is a home of spiritual renewal and a source for Christian transformation.
Proud Theater is a company dedicated to performing the stories of LGBTQIA youth. It provides a place of support and nurturing for its participants, while bringing the stories and experience of queer youth to life and performing them within the community.
