IMPLICIT BIAS: AN INTRODUCTION TO OURSELVES
At Edgewood College, Predolin Hall Room 115A/B
Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect us at an unconscious level. We all are socialized in ways that we do not control. So how do we recognize our own biases and work to address the root causes of our bias in order to move forward as agents of change?
MUM, and the Ethnic Studies Association at Edgewood College have come together to offer this free workshop to all who wish to dig deeper within themselves in order to be the most effective activists and advocates for racial justice. We will focus on race-based biases and how these contribute to racial disparities within the criminal justice system.
We ask workshop attendees to complete the Harvard Implicit Bias Test focused on race and bring your results with you to the workshop. To link to the test:

(If you can't complete the test ahead of time, you also can arrive at 12:30 to take the test on a computer at Edgewood.)
MUM volunteers, staff, board members and supporters - and all community members -- are encouraged to attend and learn more. No matter where we stand on the spectrum of understanding and experiencing racism and racial bias, there is value to re-examine ourselves and engage in community dialogue and education. The crisis of racism in this country is all too real and we are called to collaborative action to address this reality.
