It's Happening

press release: The Commonwealth Gallery (located at 100 S. Baldwin st.) is pleased to present a group exhibition of new works featuring all local community artists. The “ITS HAPPENING” show will run from April 8th, 2016 – April 16th, 2016 with an opening reception on Friday, April 15th from 5-8:30 p.m. On Saturday April 16th, the exhibition will also feature interactive works including dance, Tai chi, cardboard construction, and performance art.

Many gallery artists will be featured in the show. We are creating something inexplicable- an energy, rather than anything steeped in narrative. Something more like a feeling. A happening is by definition “a partly improvised or spontaneous piece of theatrical or other artistic performance, typically involving audience participation.” Come to the show, the experience, the art. Please join us, together as individuals to create a new art community.

Together as Individuals/ ITS HAPPENING, will run through April 16, 2016. The artists will be present at the opening reception Friday, April 15th from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday–Sunday, 10AM– 6PM, and by appointment.
