press release: The Wyoming Valley School, Spring Green, is pleased to host "Two Sisters' Art Show" featuring Jacqueline Geary Zakrzewski and Patricia Geary Vance, two sisters, two years apart. both artists with totally different techniques and mediums. Jacque loves working with Oil Pastels while Pat prefers working with Oil and Acrylics. Their works differ in size and subject as well as medium. Primitive-Folk Like best describes Jacque's work and she paints on larger canvas. Subjects are landscapes and florals that remind her of running and playing in the meadows as a child. The tree branches in her paintings project roughness similar to the trials of life. Pat paints pine trees, skies and reflections on water and she is currently teaching herself to paint flowers from her ever changing garden. Sometimes her works are as small as 2 x 3 inches. She started painting in 1968 when she and her mother attended a night class together and has continued as a hobby for many years. With the exception of that one class she is entirely self-taught!
Both women attribute their talent to their mother, Evelyn Whiteaker Geary.
