Willy Street music venue Cafe CODA, home of adventurous jazz and varied arts and cultural programs, is reopening its space to the public on Friday with a new twist: Morning Muse. The Cafe will now offer breakfast beverages and food from 7 am-2 pm daily (except Sunday), accompanied by a mix of recorded and live music. Evening shows will take place in a hybrid format: limited in-person attendance with COVID precautions in effect (plus a new pizza and tapas menu), as well as a continuation of the venue's livestreaming initiative. It kicks off with free happy hour music by the JB3s on Friday from 5-8 pm. On Saturday Cool School resumes its music classes for grade schoolers (10 am) and middle school ages and up (11 am); the evening brings ticketed shows by the Hanah Jon Taylor Artet with Kirk Brown (7 and 9 pm). Watch cafecoda.club for more information and future shows.

More on the reopening:
Cafe CODA: A 21st Century Venue for Jazz Strives to Survive Covid-19
Cafe CODA, Madison’s premier venue for jazz, creative and cultural music is proud to announce its grand re-opening, Friday, March 19th. While forced to close over a year ago, CODA has maintained an active schedule of live streaming performances, talk shows and interviews with world-class musicians, painters and community leaders. Through our GoFundMe initiative, CODA has been able to pay talent, staff and other essential bills, in continuation of our mission to keep Jazz music alive in this time and space.
Upon re-opening, CODA will offer a morning menu of varied coffees, teas and espresso beverages, with an assortment of pastries and breakfast wraps. Our "Morning Muse," 7am to 2pm, will also offer live jam sessions, videos and a play list of the greats. Evening performances will resume, with ticket sales for two shows, scheduled at 7pm and 9pm, in response to Madison’s 25% capacity ordinance. Pizza and tapas will be available during evening hours. Saturday "Cool School" will reopen to kids, with all social distancing concerns and sanitation measures in place for 10 to 12 students per hour, at 10am and 11am. Find more details on shows on our website.
We are eager to reopen our doors to the public and look forward to seeing old and new patrons of CODA in its moment of post-pandemic resurgence.
