press release: Frantal and Mrozinski exhibit the culmination of their graduate studies in textiles and design as they petition for their Master of Fine Art degree.
Jessica Frantal explores the interconnection of technology and fashion in “Systema Technaturae”. This multi-media exhibition imagines a future in which garments become a near-biological extension of the wearer, functioning independently on their behalf. The pieces react and respond to the world around the wearer, creating new levels of communication – body//garment, garment//environment, wearer//others.
Mali Winfield Mrozinski’s new body of work entitled “INVENTory” investigates design in response to personal observations about the idiosyncrasies of her own behavior. Through a series of handcrafted rugs, furniture and garments that can hover between feeling fantastical or pragmatic, Mrozinski’s work imagines a new utility for designed objects.
