John Vincent III
media release: Currently boasting close to 2.3M monthly listeners on Spotify alone, John Vincent III earned immediate attention and critical applause with a series of self-released singles and EPs, followed by his breakthrough 2019 debut album, Songs From The Valley. The Houston, TX-born, Los Angeles, CA-based singer-songwriter celebrated the LP’s success with nearly non-stop touring, returning home just as the pandemic struck the world over. Rather than sit still, Vincent and his girlfriend packed up their Ford Transit van and just drove… for eight months, a once-in-a-lifetime experience he ultimately into 2023’s acclaimed sophomore album, Songs For The Canyon, available everywhere now via Concord Records. Co-produced by Vincent with Tom Elmhirst (Adele, David Bowie) and featuring production from Tony Berg (boygenius, Taylor Swift), Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile), and Jonathan Gilbert (Mt. Joy, Pete Yorn), the album proved a massive leap forward for Vincent, highlighted by such intricately detailed, emotionally rich songs such as “Highway Woman,” “Bluebird Singing,” and the incandescently orchestrated “Dandelion.”
Marked by its open-armed storytelling and timeless musical approach, Songs For The Canyon was met by wide-ranging critical applause, with No Depression hailing it as a record “that welcomes you into its world if you let it…Vincent evokes the pensive, philosophical West Coast psych-folk of Tim Buckley’s Happy Sad…the balance between understated arrangements, indie-folk production, and confessional honesty feels like a cozy old hoodie.” “The record’s quiet literateness would fit right in with the classic singer-songwriter albums of the past,” enthused PopMatters. “The dozen tracks on Songs for the Canyon come across as new by seeming old.” “A breathtakingly beautiful folk album made with love and tender care,” declared Atwood Magazine. “It’s the treasure we never knew we were searching for; a modern classic ready to be dusted off and cherished. The piano parts are warm and rosy, the guitars radiant and rousing, the harmonies bright and lively, the lyrics catchy and captivating – and at the center of every song, no matter how bright or dark it may be, is an undeniable dedication to the music-making craft.” “Songs For The Canyon is mix of self-reflection and guarded optimism,” wrote Americana Highways. “It’s clear this album is one that’s destined to bring him to a much larger audience.”
In addition to the first ever Blue June Music Fest, 2024 saw Vincent return with a brand new single, the wistful “Never, No Not Once,” dates supporting Noah Kahan, and his own The Roadtrip Tour, which saw sold-out headline shows across Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America. Now, with the 2025 Blue June Music Fest and the promise of eagerly anticipated new music to come, John Vincent III is poised for unseen vistas and fresh milestones on what is proving an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind musical journey.
