Lots of people have moved to Madison for school and stayed a while. But there’s only one who earned a doctorate in chemistry and stayed a while to make music (before moving to Kansas City in 2023). Kelsey Miles uses the same curiosity in her songwriting that served her well in the lab. Blending blues, Americana and rock — with an emphasis on the blues (she’s an accomplished harp player) — Miles can shout and command on stage in the tradition of Bonnie Raitt and Bessie Smith.

From Kelsey Miles newsletter:
I'm hitting the road during my spring break off of teaching.
My show at the Bur Oak in Madison on March 11st (Tuesday) is especially dear to me- I'm playing my full 'I Am Lyrical Experience'
The Bur Oak is the first venue I started to share ideas from my I Am journal and I've been further weaving more love and more stories to develop this live experience of self-discovery with music. I'd love to see you there- I hired a videographer for this March 11th show and would love for you to be a part of this video too!
